The CLIMA project aims to promote the development of energy communities as relevant stakeholders in the energy value chain, with a focus on the region of Girona (Catalonia).
CLIMA will design and develop a suite of energy services that support energy and flexibility management for energy communities, which can be integrated with legacy systems and third-party solutions.
CLIMA will Increase awareness of sustainability and climate change and to promote active participation in energy efficiency programs at the collective level, which includes a cost-benefit analysis of individual participation, self-sufficiency, and flexibility.
CLIMA will develop and implement intergenerational training, transfer, and engagement programs, which will be supported by a serious gaming platform to encourage community involvement.
CLIMA will provide a tool that allows end-users to calculate their costs and benefits based on their individual energy consumption profile and the distribution of costs and benefits among all end-users.
CLIMA is run by Universitat de Girona (UdG) team, through the following research groups: eXIT (Control Engineering and intelligent systems, TECNIO), GiLAB (TECNIO), Centre EASY (TECNIO), GRIGiVs, and GRAE.
General methodologies in the project follow five principles: Research will provide solutions to important and relevant problems, as well as providing verifiable contributions, producing a viable artefact resulting from a search process, design artefacts must be rigorously validated and research must be communicated.
This project has received funding from the Departament of Research and Universities, Department of Climate Action, Food and Rural Agenda of the Government of Catalonia.
